6 SIMPLE WAYS TO LOWER YOUR BLOOD GLUCOSE

  1. Avoid Foods That Increase Blood Glucose: OBVIOUSLY!!

    • Bread, rice, pasta, breakfast cereal, fruits, biscuits, below-ground vegetables. These turn into glucose in your blood steam. Even if the bread is really expensive and full of grains, it will put up your blood glucose.
  2. Monitor Your Blood Glucose

    • Wear a Continuous Glucose Monitor: Use for 10 days to learn which foods affect your blood glucose levels. These can be purchased from your pharmacy. These measure your blood glucose every minute and feed it to an app on your iphone. You can see exactly what that food does!
  3. Exercise After Meals

    • Go for a Walk: Moving muscles soak up glucose, which is beneficial even if you have diabetes. Activities like walking or even vacuuming can help.
  4. Eating Habits

    • Eat Protein First: Always start your meal with protein.
    • Combine Carbohydrates with Protein or Fat: Never eat carbohydrates by themselves.
  5. Prepare Carbohydrates Properly

    • Pasta and Potatoes: Cook them, cool them, and then reheat before eating. This process makes the glucose in them less easily absorbed, preventing high spikes in blood glucose.
    • Example: Boil the potato, cool it in the fridge, and bake it in the oven the next day.
  6. Incorporate Apple Cider Vinegar

    • Before Meals: Taking a small amount of apple cider vinegar before meals may help improve insulin sensitivity and lower blood sugar levels.
